1 June 2012

The following is a email from a Plot holder on the Radford Bridge Road Allotments. All support is welcome:

Good morning,

I am writing to you as I promised to update you of the ‘progress’ of the above.   The developers, Commercial Estates Group, have submitted an Application for Outline Planning Permission on the above 27-acre site for residential development and for remediation of the residual plots.  By remediation they apparently mean that the allotments that are not being built on will be ploughed up,  the inter-plot hedgerows, buildings and paths removed, and the new plots realigned.  The potential loss of hedgerow amounts to about 6.5 miles, and the impact on the ecology of loss of mature fruit trees will be horrendous.

I am writing again to seek the support of fellow allotmenters by asking them to submit comments on this Application.  I appreciate that this is a very busy time of the gardening year, but an objection can be as simple as, for example, “I do not agree with any change of use of allotment land” to as detailed as you like.  I append a notice which you may be willing to display.  It details how to read about the application and how to submit comments.

If anyone needs help, they are welcome to contact me.

With kind regards,

Sue Marshall: sueamarshall@virginmedia.com

renter, Radford Bridge Road allotments, Wollaton
