The Heritage Fruit Tree Project  is progressing well with  2,000 rootstocks planted!

Many thanks to the volunteers who helped us plant; we couldn’t have done it without you.

The planting has been spread over two plots, one for the apples and Pyrus Communis rootstock and the other for the 550 Pears on Quince.

Preparation has taken many months, with the main plot needing 6 skips to clear the huge amount of rubbish found.

Next step is to bud the trees in August with the help of Frank P Matthews Nursery in Tenbury Wells.

In the meantime, we are holding regular volunteer days to help keep the trees weed free. The next is on Friday the 30th April; meet at Ransom Rd gates at 9.15am.

Any enquiries please call STAA on 0115 9110207.
